Football Camp 2025 is fast approaching its 32nd year! As I’m sure, the dear folks at FBC of Dwight are in high gear, getting everything ready for another great year at Football Camp. Here are a few suggestions from an old coach:
1. Get yourself in better physical condition.
Players get hurt early in the week every year, ruining their playing time and performance due to entirely preventable injuries.
Start some cardio exercises every day or every other day as soon as possible. This could include jogging, jumping jacks, cycling, swimming, hiking, rowing, or jumping rope. Spend 30–60 minutes exercising, increasing your heart rate. Start small and aim to improve a little every day. I know Football Camp is just days away, so start NOW!
Stretching every day may prove to be the most beneficial thing you can do to prepare. You may want to target a different muscle group every other day. Drink plenty of water and cut down on sugar and junk food.
2. Get yourself in the best spiritual condition possible.
If you start drawing closer to God and distancing yourself from the world now, God can do even more for you at Man Camp.
Attend church every time the doors are open and participate in all church activities. “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together” (Hebrews 10:25a). “They have addicted themselves to the ministry…” (1 Corinthians 16:15b).
Listen to or read good sermons. “It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe” (1 Corinthians 1:21b).
Listen to good Christian music all the time. “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:19).
Pray daily for Football Camp and for God to work in your heart during camp. Pray for the speakers to be guided by the Holy Spirit. Pray for good weather and smooth preparations. “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
3. Read the Bible every day!!!!!
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).
See you soon at Man Camp!
