Man Camp Begins at Home

A Note to Parents

Man Camp is almost here, but the most essential preparation doesn’t start with packing or schedules. It begins at home. Before your son ever steps onto the field or into a chapel service, his heart will be shaped by the spiritual atmosphere you create right now.

We’re asking you to partner with us before camp even begins. One of the best ways to do that is to pray with and for your son daily in the days leading up to camp. Pray that his heart would be soft. Pray that he’d be open to correction. Pray that God would speak clearly and powerfully through the preaching.

The Bible says, Break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. Hosea 10:12

Sometimes, a boy arrives at camp hardened by distraction, pride, or hidden sin. But you can help “break up the ground” through prayer, conversation, and intentional influence.

Here are a few simple but powerful ways to help prepare your son:

  • Pray with him – even if it’s just a short time before bed.
  • Talk about obedience – especially to authority: parents, coaches, and ultimately God.
  • Encourage honesty – remind him that camp is a place to be real and grow spiritually. But it will never happen if he is not honest.
  • Read a few verses together – even a short passage from Proverbs or Psalms can help till the soil.
  • Pray expectantly – let him know you’re praying for God to do something big in his life.

My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways. Proverbs 23:26. Camp is a powerful tool, but you are the primary influence in your son’s life. When home and camp work together, the results can be eternal. Thank you for trusting us to invest in your young man. Let’s begin the work now, in prayer, in faith, and at home.
